Welcome to Mrs. Johnson's Page!

Welcome!  My name is Tammy Johnson and I teach 5th grade language arts, reading, and social studies here at Westwood Elementary!  I graduated from The University of Texas at Tyler and I have been teaching public school for 9 years.  I taught private school several years while I was working on my degree.  This is my second year at Westwood, and I see many happy years far into the future!
I will use this main page to share pictures and activities that we are working on in the classroom.  I have also set up additional pages for each subject I teach so that, as parents, you will know what your child is working on in each subject.  It is my goal to keep parents in the loop and make sure that you have access to assignments as often as possible.  Please be sure to click the "Subscribe" button below my profile picture to receive updates when new content is added to this site. I am always available through email, Remind, or by phone if there are questions that you would like answered.
Service Project 2017
As a service to our community, we felt that we should honor the sacrifices made by our community's first responders.  In class, we made banners for the Palestine Regional Hospital's Emergency Room staff, the Anderson County Sheriff's Office, the Anderson County EMS, the Palestine Police Department, and the Palestine Fire Department.  We also made cards for each of these agencies to thank them for spending their Christmas Eve being available to us rather than being home with their families.  On Christmas Eve, I made hundreds of cookies and treats for these agencies and Mr. Johnson and I delivered the treats, banners, and cards.  It was a very rewarding experience!
